Talk about chills.
I found myself saying “Mmmm” like a church mother in the front pew while reading this gripping, timeless collection of poetry by Jasmine Mans, exploring girlhood to womanhood, the shaping of identity, an examination of public figures and the body (which, at times, is not considered our own), and the roles we play in the lives of others.
Black Girl, Call Home is an ode to healing every part.

Brief, but powerful collection. Mans did a great job unpacking topics ranging from rape to Kanye. Very readable.

5 stars literally just because of Dear Ex Lover. Were there more insightful parts? Yes, but that one was necessary

Oh, this made me cry. To be a black, queer woman in this lifetime.. A blessing, at times a curse, but I would never regret it. This was beautiful, and heart wrenching.
