I can’t believe this is the 19th book in this series,  Angela Marsons  to me is the absolute Queen of crime thrillers.  I’ve read every one of her books and they just keep on getting better and better.  Bad Blood begins with a call telling Kim Stone she needs to attend a crime scene where the body of a man has been found.  However when she arrives at the scene the man is in fact still alive but he has been found lying in a very strange position.   Is this significant to why he was attacked ?   A few days later another body is discovered and again his body is on an unusual position.  Are these two crimes related ?  Kim and her team must work together to discover the perpetrator and why they are doing this.   Whilst all this is going on Stacy has problems of her own and it’s causing her to make mistakes at work as,her mind isn’t on the job.   I think the Stacy part of this book was actually my favourite but it’s fair to say it’s an absolute page turner.   From start to finish I was utterly absorbed in this book and didn’t want to put it down. When I did put it down I just couldn’t wait to get back to it.   It’s gripping, tense and absolutely brilliant.    I would recommend reading this series in order but even if you haven’t read the others it could be read as a standalone. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I know I say this every time I review another book in the series, but I think it is worth repeating.  This is one of my favorite crime series.  I look forward to every new book and I am never disappointed.  And in case you are wondering, as I write this review, I am thinking about the next one.  Already.

Kim Stone is a flawed and relatable main character.  And those flaws show through in this one.  But her compassion and ability to lead her team also shines.  There are two storylines in this one.  There is the stand alone case of someone killing seemingly unrelated men.  And there is the continuation of Stacy being stalked by a man from a previous case.  I always say the ones that hit close to home from the team are some of my favorites.  Those cases up the risk for the team.

While I love the complexity of the case and how I kept figuring it out and then changing my mind on who the killer was, my absolute favorite part of the book is seeing how the team has grown and their lives have changed over the course of the series.  While Stacey plays the biggest part in this one, there are moments with the other team members, Penn and Bryant, where you get a window into how their life outside of their career is shaping up.  It is these moments that give depth to the characters and make me want to know more.  And I loved how this one came full circle from the beginning to the last words.

I had some OMG moments and appreciated how the team unraveled the clues to solve the case.  I did not want to put this one down and luckily I had little life to get in my way of reading.  While I will always advocate to read the entire series, the author does a great job of providing enough details to let each book stand on its own.

Not my favourite in the series but for the 19th book in a series to still be this good and for them to be so consistently good is an achievement in itself. 👏👏

I think this might be my favourite crime series. I just adore Kim Stone and her team. Every new addition to the series is as good as the last and I fall more in love with the team. Keats was on form this book and I’m still expecting Stone and Frost to become besties. As usual the murder was gruesome and the hunt for the killer kept me guessing. I’d say I worked out the killer maybe 5 pages before it was revealed. My heart broke for Stacey and it was so interesting seeing how Kim reacted to the revelation of what she’d been going through. The twists and turns had me hooked and I couldn’t put it down. I think I finished it in two days.

I received a copy of the ebook via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review

I don't read many police procedurals, but this is positively one of best series I have stumbled across. I have loved Kim Stone from the first book, she is after all, the character who drew me in!

Ok... Angela, WHAT!? Oh. My. Gods! Bad Blood was insanely good! It was so nice to be able to dive right back into this series with the characters I love so much. This was a pretty dark and messed up book, with people being found on the brink of death, while Kim and her team have to once again, find out what is happening, who is doing it and why.

Thank you Bookouture and Netgalley for the ARC. All opinions are my own.
