The Winter of the Witch was a beautiful ending to a magical series. Arden neatly wove a complex plot, bringing in a vast array of characters, both mythical and historical, together. Vasya continues to grow, learning from her mistakes, never betraying her values, and navigating a world that would rather see her silenced than free. The ending was the perfect way to see Vasya off, and I appreciated how Arden decided to bring the worlds of Chyerti and the Church together while using the history of Russia as a guideline. The Winternight Trilogy was the perfect cozy winter read and a new favorite.
will it be too dramatic if i say i feel there is a gaping loss in me after finishing this trilogy because i really do NOT want it to end.
as always, i love vasya (my girl!!!). i love vasya's and morozko's dynamic. i love the incorporation of politics and slavic folklore. i love how it explored faith and beliefs. and oddly enough, i have grown fond of medved too and his dynamic with the mc!!
i was so drawn to the writing and the story, itself; i couldn't stop reading, but at the same time, i was trying to take my time with it because i honestly didn't want it to end. this is defo one of the best and most enjoyable trilogies/series i've read. i need MORE

Welp. If you'd told me after the first book that I'd be looking for medved/Konstantin fic post series, I would have been dumbfounded. Definitely didn't see that coming. The bear's grief just felt genuine and worked for me. It felt like a parallel to any of the number of times vasya pleaded with morozko for her loved ones, and I'm a sucker for that shit. As for the narrative, I can't imagine a more satisfying conclusion to the series. Other than Sasha surviving of course
Absolute magic, exactly what you would hope from this author after the first two delicious books.
This trilogy was so good. And this book was my favorite of the 3. You know it’s a good trilogy when the next one keeps topping the previous.
I loved the road to midnight. It was an amazing addition to the series and my favorite part of the book. It also really helped Vasya grow into her power. When previously the idea of her saving Russia seemed ridiculous.
I also really appreciated that the romance between Vasya and Morozko was quite tame. It would be so out of character if the author made Vasya another love sick heroine.
I’ve never read so much about horses in my life. I don’t even like horses and my favorite character was a horse.
The ending was fantastic. The storytelling was beautiful, engrossing, and combined Russian folklore and history together so well. I highly recommend.
