I found this book quite enjoyable and didn't feel guilty at all to speed read through sections that didn't interest me. Loved the quotes, the lists, and most of the topics. For a book lover like me, I recommend this one.

Full of facts. Interesting, but in small doses.

This book gets a solid five stars from me! Being a librarian as well as book lover and avid reader I found all of the random and miscellaneous facts about the literary world super appealing! The fun facts and other quirky stories were well written and entertaining. I rather enjoyed this book and got learn some new facts: did you know Anne Perry helped commit a murder? As well as chuckle at ones I already knew.

Great 'coffee table' style book with lots of little anecdotes, factoids, and vignettes about literary figures and their major works.

This was hard to rate! In places it was quite dry or slow, but also it contained many facts I didn’t already know. The narrator had a lovely accent, so it wasn’t hard to listen to, and like many other non-fiction, I found it easier to have someone read to me. I love, generally, books about books, about writers, about booksellers, about readers, and while this wasn’t my favorite non-fiction on the topic, it was interesting enough for me to finish it, and I’d definitely recommend giving it a go if you love hearing about authors’ lives and their works.

As a huge lover of books, I also love books about books. Out of the ones I've read, I would consider this one of the best.
It's not written in essay format, it's not a book if you want to really want to go in dept on a particular subject. This is a book about books and authors and everything in between! Everything is bite sized, interesting, and informative! There were some more common facts, and some much more obscure, so most people will find something they never knew before in between these pages.
A very fun book to have and flip through, and you never know what conversations will start with the information you find out.

Some of the anecdotes were interesting but all of them were too short to fully appreciate. The topic excites me but I was hoping for more actual story telling around the theme.
