This was a fantastic middle grade read! From the first page, City Spies grabbed my attention. Each of the characters were unique and intriguing in their own way. I loved learning more about each of them and I was very invested in their backstories. The world-building was perfectly paced. We learned about the interconnected spy world gradually which kept you wanting more. Speaking of the writing style, I really enjoyed the multiple perspectives! It gave the book an immersive quality that sucked me in while reading. The plot was action-packed and kept me guessing at every turn. It has everything a great spy book needs: daring heists, impressive gadgets, and thrilling chase scenes. I can't wait to see. what the rest of the series has in store!

With a loveable cast of characters, an action-packed plot, and immersive writing, City Spies is a must-read!

Thank you Netgalley and Aladdin Books for the gifted first book that I read along with the audiobook from the library!

Hello and welcome to a new addition to my favorite middle grade series. This series incorporates a diverse cast of endearing middle grade characters who navigate not only spy craft, but the emotions of real life so well.

Book 1 is a beautiful introduction to this team of child spies and their handlers. You get some big picture information but you also get an up close look at some of the character's motivations. Plus you get to see both action and intelligence play out in the character's spy craft.
