Finally finished the sword of truth series, and in truth I'm glad it's over. The series really started to meander from book 5 onwards and the author's propensity to spend chapters at a time ramming his personal philosophy down the reader's throat gets distinctly tedious. Having said that, I was kept reading to the end of the 11 book series, so I clearly wanted to know how it ended, I just wish it had got there a bit quicker!

I have to admit, the last few books prior to Confessor in this series had me on the edge of throwing in the towel. While the central storyline was still interesting and held my attention, the blatant pro-capitalism preaching was very heavy and for me, started to become an annoying distraction. I'm happy to report that Goodkind didn't really carry on with that preaching in this book!

I loved Confessor! The way we get closure on the whole Chainfire debachle was just awesome! Now where will the story go? Can't wait to get on to the next book and see!

Goodkind does a great job concluding his epic Sword of Truth series. Though I probably might have liked to see a little more of Richard and Kahlan reuniting at the end. Though I will admit, I do get a little tired when Richard starts in on his speeches. Sometimes they seem to go on and on. He already gets his point across the first time, but he keeps going and going. Sometimes I wondered if Richard just loves the sound of his own voice. I am kind of sad to see it end. The entire series has kind of been my summer obsession. I look forward to his new Richard & Kahlan series starting with the Omen Machine.

A very good concluding novel to the Sword of Truth series. As a whole, the series had it's ups and downs and seemed to meander more than I would've liked, but this last volume was one of the more solid entries.

A good wrap-up to the Sword of Truth series, Terry Goodkind tied together most of the loose ends in a satisfying manner. Bringing so many characters together at the end and having them contribute to the conclusion takes some work and for the most part it was done successfully. Ann and Adie's story kind of fizzled out for me. I liked Richard's final solution and have certainly wished I could do something similar to this world on occasion.

My main problems with this book, and some of the others, are the long-winded explanations of the magic system and the sermonizing. The dialogue got repetitious and could've been condensed. These are clever characters and I got it long before they did. Shut up. Move on.

The book worked best for me when things were happening - in the action. Here's Lord Richard Rahl, a prisoner of the Order, determined to win on the Ja'La with a team of captives so that he can get into a position to kill Jagang and free Kahlan. I see Richard's values and Jagang's values in what they do, not in all the tedious speechifying.

I recommend the series in general as a solid work of fantasy.
