Critical Role: The Mighty Nein Origins: Nott the Brave by Sam Riegel, Matthew Mercer, Sam Maggs

This has the same artist as the Yasha book BUT I didn't mind the art style this time around! There was something more polished and less cartoony about it this time around, and I think that's because it has a different colorist. I never realized what a huge impact a colorist can have on the whole tone of a graphic novel, but this difference is immense. It might also have to do with Yasha and Veth/Nott being very different characters. The cartoonishness of the art style seems less out of place with a halfling or goblin. If you, like me, weren't a fan of the Yasha book because of the art, give this one a try anyway, it's very different.

A very quick read about everyone's favourite button-collecting thief, the story moved quickly. I read this in about half an hour. It spends a lot of time telling Nott/Veth's backstory and how she came to meet the first member of the Mighty Nein. The art style was pretty and the writing was good, so this is perfect for anyone who is looking to learn more about the characters of Critical Role!

i actually like the changes they made to make veth's story a little more consistent, even if i like sam's original description the most (excepting yeza seeing her as nott, that sort of undermines some thematic stuff during the campaign). it definitely makes sense for the adaptation to play with it a little, and it makes it more exciting to read!
