To be honest I felt that this book dragged quite a bit with needless intricacies. The actual plot is brilliant, but I found myself zoning out quite often feeling that details were unimportant to the plot. Despite doing this I still had managed to pinpoint majority of the culprits very early on, before they’d been disclosed, therefore felt there were no surprises and no twists.

I do feel that this book had a hell of a lot of potential and who knows, maybe one day I’ll pick up another Jack Reacher novel, but for now I think I’ll read something to wake me back up.

A little too macho for my taste. Reacher ALWAYS ends up having sex with “the girl.” Lots of gratuitous violence.

I’d never read anything of the popular Jack Reacher’s series before so I wanted to start at the beginning. Keeping in mind that this is a 1998 crime; I LOVED this story. To be honest the writing is quite choppy, and feels almost unfinished. The sentences are short and there are rarely any comma’s. I really had to get into that and was annoyed at the beginning but the story makes up for it. Even if some parts of the story go quickly and some parts slow the subject just really, really got me. I liked the characters and felt for them. Knowing now that Jack turns into a DI, I honestly can’t wait to see where it’s going.
adventurous funny tense slow-paced

The first Jack Reacher novel written in 1997.  The writing shows this was before everyone having email, mobile phone, cameras.  The number of trips back and forth to Atlanta was insane.  A person died bringing paperwork to Finley and Reacher.  In fact, there were a lot of deaths, violent deaths.
Reacher is a lone wolf, following his own rules.
I liked the writing, so descriptive, nothing left to the imagination.  The airport scene was insane.  You knew exactly what they were experiencing trying to get to Molly.
I also thought the book was funny.  So many male egos, machoism, and testosterone.  I felt sorry for Roscoe sometimes.  Surely, she felt intimidated at times.

I really enjoyed Killing Floor. It’s an exciting debut with a Superman-type lead character. Its fast pace makes it hard to put down.
