I felt so many feelings while reading this. It took me a while to get through because of how hard hitting the stories were, the one with the sunsets made me cry. It's weird reading a book about the end of the world/ the beginning of the end and not feeling a looming sense of dread; maybe it's because of how terrible the world is already getting and how much capitalist values dictate everything about our life, from community to morals, in addition to suffocating everyone under the burden of surviving under such a hardcore individualist society.

A lot of these stories explore the theme of loneliness in all it's states, from individual relationships to the literal end of the world, which is interesting in the context of climate change and rapid scientific evolution. I think the author also does a really good job of calling out the "yes we can because we're American" rhetoric through these stories because at the end of the day, no amount of patriotic speech or fervor can replace compassionate communities, environmental stewardship and like, actual science that takes times to get right! I really really really enjoyed this book and I absolutely will recommend it to everyone.
