After devouring the first book of this series (keep in mind they also can be read as stand alone novels) I was not let down in the slightest. This book was both heart-breaking and brutal at the same time.  Our MC Emily is a clairvoyant that taps into an energy she calls the purple. She is a mom and a wife, but she has a stalker. The Monster is obsessed with Emily and will stop at nothing to have her as his own. Emily is strong willed and will do anything to overcome her captivity and get back home to her daughter. The Monster has other plans for her however. This book is NOT A HAPPY ENDING BOOK.  It is a book that will make you feel emotions you didn't realize you could feel while reading.  The grueling days Emily spends with the Monster are horrific and written in great detail. However, The Monster is only a man. A man that seems to have Mental Health issues and addiction. Once these thoughts are added to the mix you have some what of a compassionate thought process of what made him the way he is. Once again the writing of this subject matter is beautifully written without using unnecessary words or dragging on. If you want a book that will hit you right in your feelings look no further. Eli Wilde has done it again; his attention to detail is perfection and you are sucked in from the first page.

While the writing is exceptional and it started with the right amount of disturbing, after a bit it just became repetitive and boring for me.
