I really, really, really wanted to give this 5 stars as I did for Ready Player One. I was equal parts nervous and excited to read a sequel.

As a self-confessed nerd and kid who grew up in the 80s there is a lot in here to push my buttons and scratch my nostalgia itch.

Whilst the premise of the ONI headset was cool and the quest was good, I didn’t ever get totally absorbed like I did with the original.

If you liked the original you will like this but tone down your expectations. It’s not as good.

Whilst I can’t blame the author for writing a sequel, part of me wishes he had left Ready Player One as a stand alone.

I’ll still never understand how they FELL IN LOVE IN LIKE A WEEK?! Make me understand. I get the whole attraction during life or death situation but Wade and Samantha don’t seem good for each other.

The adventure was still enjoyable when you get past the angst. I did have to skim read when they got to the LOTR stuff. I’m not a fan.

I guess earth is still doomed. The digital clones are going into space with a bunch of embryos...Were they already fertilized? I forget. I guess that’s the clones’ and aliens’ problem now.

While I enjoyed the ride, I don't think it was anywhere near as good as the first one. I'm gonna have to mentally separate this in my mind from RPO if I ever read it again.

Another great adventure in the OASIS! I thought it was too drawn out in some parts - I started getting a little bored. Overall though, I really enjoyed the twists and thought provoking resolution.
