I loved this book! The only thing that brought it down to a4 rather than 5 is that it dragged on a little bit.
I’ve seen some say that the ending battle was too short, but I thought it was perfect.
I love all the literary references popping into the last few books, and I especially love the meta-narrative elements developing.

I struggled with Detta/Odetta and when she became Susannah, I preferred her. Detta is back in this book and I can't with her. SK has name-dropped himself. Strange. After four books, there is still no character that I am at all invested in and that's not good for a 7-book fantasy series. I put this down for a few days and felt absolutely no pull to pick it back up, so it's now a book and series DNF.
Definitely not in love with the ending of this one, although I was enamored for those first twenty pages or so. All I have to say is that if Stephen King ends up being the Crimson King, or if he writes himself into the top floor of The Dark Tower, furiously writing the stories of every where and when, I will never pick up another Stephen King book again.
So good, very suspenseful. No one does a plot twist quite like Stephen King.

This was one of my favorites in the series. I enjoyed the relationships that developed between the Ka-tet and the people of the Calla, and especially liked the addition of Father Callahan to the story. Found this to be one of the faster moving stories of the series, a good follow up to Wizard and Glass
OOPS forgot to update this. I believe this was the first TDT book he wrote after quite a few years. It contributes more to the world building than overall plot? I still thoroughly enjoyed it, probably my favorite of TDT series so far.

A cracking read with all that makes a good western in line with the Magnificent Seven. But as usual the author weaves the storyline with his magic and linking the Dark Tower in to the feed.
The pace has picked up with the last three books completed in some forms. The meandering has gone and we are now fully back on the literal beam towards the Tower....
