"Wolves of the Calla" follows Roland and his ka-tet as they arrive in the town of Calla Bryn Sturgis, where they are asked to help protect the community from the sinister Wolves who abduct their children. The ka-tet faces moral dilemmas and battles, uncovering deep secrets about the Wolves, their connection to the Breakers, and the sinister Ageless Stranger. Meanwhile, Susannah grapples with a dark presence growing within her, adding an ominous layer to the group's quest for the Dark Tower.
Roland Deschain is a dedicated gunslinger from Gilead, driven by his quest for the Dark Tower and burdened by the weight of his past. Eddie Dean, once a troubled New Yorker, brings humor and resilience to the ka-tet, showcasing significant personal growth and loyalty. Susannah Dean grapples with complex identities and inner conflicts, demonstrating strength and determination, while Jake Chambers, the brave and intuitive young boy from New York, navigates moral dilemmas and showcases his loyalty to the group.
Jake Chambers is my favorite character because of his remarkable bravery and loyalty throughout the series. His moral integrity and willingness to face difficult situations, like the dilemma of telling on his friend's father, demonstrate his depth and maturity. Additionally, Jake's growth from a lost boy to a key member of Roland's ka-tet makes his journey both compelling and inspirational, solidifying his place as a standout character in "Wolves of the Calla."

For the first time in this series, I would say this book was not better than the last. However, do not mistake that for it not being good, nor for my level of enjoyment of it, which was high. Really, it speaks towards the overall greatness of Wizard and Glass more than it does to any shortcomings of Wolves of the Calla, of which there are few. You really gotta hand it to Stephen King. It is so obvious that he has put his all into writing this series to the best of his ability. What other writer can take a bestselling book out of his own career and turn it into a prop in a another book almost twenty years later and have it all actually make sense? Total brilliance. The crossover of worlds, and their subtle differences is at the heart of this entire series, but it comes shining through in several more ways in this chapter of the series. (The aforementioned Salem's Lot, Phantasm, Dr. Doom from Marvel comics, Harry Potter......on and on) Hilarity and brilliance. There's really not much more to say about it. I'm completely in awe at how each of these books can more or less stand on their own, yet they continually move the overall story so cleverly and so effortlessly. And I love, as in any good story with many volumes, how naturally the characters become more a part of you with every new moment. This is his masterpiece at work, and I couldn't be enjoying it any more. I mean, how he can make a robot a character that you hate so much that you want to stand up and cheer when he meets his end.....that takes a lot of talent. The stories are complex on the surface, but so very simple in their truest form and essence, and written with amazing subtle grace. And that may be the best part of all. Say True. Say thankysai. Say big-big. We were met well in the Calla, were we not? Indeed we were. And ever closer to the Dark Tower...... Now, let's go get Susannah.
Not as good as the other books, that I've read, in the series. Took me a while to get into it however, once I did it was great!
I love the midsection focused on Callahan and the vampires!

Continua la aventura del ka-tet del Eld. No es como el maravillo "Mago y Cristal" pero se pone bastante interesante. La saga casi llega a su fin.

Every epic fantasy must have an epic battle of some sort: it is known. This, my friends, is the battle of Roland's ka-tet. That's all I'll write here, say sorry: part of the joy of these books, for me, has been knowing nothing about where the story was going, and I'd like to preserve that for anyone reading the series for the first time.
I've read the Dark Tower books more or less back-to-back, something I never do with series, and I'm starting to have an affected manner of speaking, as if I were in these adventures with Roland and company, speaking with them. It's unnerving and strange, as I've never done that with another book; occasionally I'll pick up a slight accent after watching too many hours of a tv show, so this makes the new affect that much more curious. Immersion therapy, I suppose. Not that I'd want to stay in Mid-World; it's a rough place to be.
The road to the Tower grows ever shorter, now. I hope I'll be ready when I reach it.
