As with Wizard and Glass, this novel was 200 pages too long in its world-building and character design. There are many great things about this book, but a lot of it happens at the beginning and the end. I was happy that Eddie and Jake got their own plots independent of Roland, but Susannah could have used more screen-time. It’s just a little disappointing that her character hasn’t progressed much since book 3.

4 stars. This book was definitely my second favorite of the series so far. It felt like a very dark and twisted fairytale for adults with all the different stories being told. It's a huge book (over 900 pages) but I never once felt like there were parts that dragged or lulled. Everything moved at such a steady pace and flowed really well. This volume in particular I felt was really great development for Jake's character which was awesome to see. He's grown so much since we're first introduced to him in book one.

I know the next book has such polarizing reviews on it but I'm super excited about it anyways. This series continues to entertain me and blow me away.
