While it was a nice book to read, it wasn't necessary.

I know its the trend to write duets, but this is one of the cases where it was a waste.

The first book could have been longer and whatever plot was in this book, could have easily been added.

This book felt like one long epilogue. It wasn't bad but I would have preferred a little more drama.

I really enjoyed the first book, but unfortunately this second installment did not click with me. It felt like there wasn't enough plot or story - and my drive to read the story plummeted quickly. I expected more tension and angst and the will-they-won't-they beauty of a couple torn apart, but I didn't get any of that. I'm sure others will love it; but it did not work for me. I'll continue reading Katy because I love her stories and it's impossible to love every story an author puts out. This was just one of those.

I ended up loving this story. Although to start with, I was a little perturbed that it didn't pick up from where Mr. President ended, instead it starts some two months later, just as Matt takes the Oath of Office.

And then considering how Matt and Charlotte finished, I was expecting a more angst filled, somewhat hard fought reunion. Yet, they came back together pretty simply, without any fuss, and kind of fell into a relationship that is unlike the one they shared during the first book.

But very quickly this story had me completely and utterly hooked, and there were plenty of spicy moments throughout. As well as a few fun ones as the story neared its conclusion; and what I especially loved, was how you are drawn into these characters, and the burden they carry as President and First Lady. As for me it felt very believable, especially in those moments when Matt had to make an awful decision or choose between his family and his country. And really, that's what made this such an excellent and enthralling story, and it's one I would happily recommend to others.

4.5⭐️ I love both books but I was craving for any action or strong story plot to complete the story in this second book. Nonetheless, this has touched me in so many ways. It was beautifully written.

Overall duet I will rate this 5 Hamilton⭐️s. This series has just become one of my favorite books of all time.
