I really enjoyed this! Unfortunately, this story is not a fictional one and this kind of thing happens to gay men all the time (minus the folklore monster). I really enjoyed all the characters and the time jumps too!

I’m not sure how I feel about this book. There were parts that really had me hooked and there were parts that I just did not like. This was categorized as horror and the parts that told the stories of the gay men who went missing were truly horrifying. But then there were parts where the author intertwined autobiographical stories in between and it just made everything feel disjointed. I was going to rate this a 2 star but the last 20-30 pages made me bump it up to 3.

I went back and forth between 2 and 3 stars. I really wanted to like this book. The summary really sounded like one I would enjoy, however I just couldn't get into this book. I'm struggling to adequately explain why I didn't like it. Discussion in book club will be interesting

I really wanted to like this but it was very disjointed so I felt like I could never get attached to characters or feel like I was learning anything about the mystery. Also wasn't scary- unforgivable

I sat for a while thinking about how to summarise my thoughts on this book and... Wow. This was so different to what I expected going into it. An exquisite blend of mythology/folklore, horror and real-life excerpts. David Demchuk crafted this expertly - this is a book I won't forget.
