It's fine, but I think it would be better if it had a little less emotional turmoil or a little more spice. The ratio was off. 

I think the reviews are a little harsh, but I don't jive with most contemporary romance fans. It feels like they want everything to be real (as in the setting), but when characters react to these romcom scenarios set in real life with normal emotional dysregulation, they're all like, "no, not like that!!" Like, they want domestic DnD or something? I guess I get the escapism argument, but then why are you reading about stories set IRL with IRL characters?

It's aggressively British, if that does anything for you.

3.5 stars (round up!). classic holiday set up: fake dating, country house for christmas, chaos and silly cliches abound. i enjoyed it for the most part but was a bit predictable for any higher of a score.
