I’m so glad I didn’t let negative reviews keep me from reading this book. Pretty classic contemporary sapphic rom com, but did some interesting things with the genre, including managing to feel more grown up and thoughtful about the main characters’ internal worlds and actions. Not steamy, but so sweet! Oh, and vegetarian/vegan characters! Yay!

wanted a cozy feel good sapphic romance and while it was that at parts, the characters felt very underdeveloped and the plot contrite with unsuccessful attempts to add depth. Also, I feel like I should never read a queer book and walk away having spent the majority of it liking the cishet white guy more than everyone else. That is frankly, depressing.

If you like posh English and audiobooks, this is the book for you. It felt like listening to an episode of The Crown. It’s lighthearted and funny at times. It’s a cute romance story set in a picturesque Christmas scene. The plot isn’t too complicated and the characters aren’t too deep but overall enjoyable for something fun.
