I enjoyed this one, it was easy to read and kept the story flowing well. It would have added to it to hear a bit more from Elodie as a child, but it spanned an entire lifetime so i understand it needed to move on.

Simple and Complicated

I found the way this story was told made it an easy and quick read, as its narration and style flowed nicely. Although the subject matter itself was very difficult to stomach at times, it is an important historical injustice that deserves exploration. I’m rating three stars because of a somewhat unsatisfying, wrapped up ending and some unrealistic romantic tangents.

Anyone who knows me knows my love for Lesley Pearse. This was like one of her older novels titled with a name. Following the life of a girl with the accurate historical background. Best book I’ve read this year so a fantastic one to end on.
