This book felt unfinished and the relationship underdeveloped. I actually didn’t mind the characters and could’ve seen myself maybe enjoying them and the side characters more but this just felt like it wasn’t a complete story??

DNF. Literally got through 80% of the book before I had to stop. This author writes the CRINGIEST male characters I’ve ever read.
I read the second book of the series first and hated that man, and this one I was tricked into liking him at first, but then his true colors came out. I was so put off by the things the men in these books were saying/thinking in the POVs that I had to ask my boyfriend if other men actually think the way this author writes them to be because I was so uncomfortable with the objectification they have towards their love interests.
Caught myself saying “ew” multiple times throughout this book based on something the male character said/did. I like a little bit of spice in my books, but this was wayyyyy over the top.

Before even beginning to listen to this book, I'd decided I wasn't going to be overly critical of it as I was just looking for a lighthearted story to listen to, almost casually. But there were so many irritating issues, too many to ignore.
This was a story relying on assumptions too ridiculous to be enjoyable. Some are downright unhealthy and potentially triggering (there's people changing each other for love (and not in the good, "becoming the best version of yourself" kind of way), and a character having panic attacks and its coping mechanism are pretty much ridiculed, then thrown out the window - for love) and others are just outlandish (another character is a virgin at 29 years old because she could never get past her high school crush, whom she barely even spoke to). And this is just ignoring the trope of the man rescuing the damsel in distress by splashing money at her favourite shop or one of her professional projects.
Yuck.
This is not "lighthearted", this is just silly.

honestly this book was fine. I love tessa bailey but this one has just been my least fav of hers. the writing was a little corny but that’s what i like about her books they feel like watching a rom com. i listened to this book on audio and kind felt myself tuning out. there’s nothing really wrong with it i just didn’t feel connected to the characters. overall 3 ⭐️
