1.5 ⭐️⭐️ Yikes. The FMC I thought was fine. Yes, the crush she’s been harboring for 15 years was a bit much but whatever. I liked her “chaos”. The MMC was ick to me. He was all grand gestures and objectification. All the little stuff that makes us swoon for these fictional men was not there. Also the writing was so repetitive, was the author trying to hit a word count or something! Hallie’s smile, the fire, what happened after the fire… how many times was that stuff mentioned in the book?! Woof. And yeah, the

First big thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this arc in exchange for my fair and honest review.

Normally I absolutely love Tessa Bailey’s books. Did I enjoy this book? Yeah. It has some great parts, but it wasn’t really my favorite.

This book is a story of polar opposites attracting. Julian is an orderly everything is planned down to the min professor who is currently on sabbatical from his ivy league job and is back at his family’s winery trying to work on a book. Hallie is all about sunshine and flowers and getting messy, with her life and her gardening.

Sometimes the trope was a bit much and made the conflict seem silly. But Tessa does pull out the hotness between these two and it’s easy to get swept away in it.

Overall, I enjoyed the book, but I don’t know if it’s one I really need to read again which is why I am giving it 3 stars. However, the setup for the next characters in the series has me salivating to read Julian’s sister’s book.

Loving my way through Tessa Baileys books- but have to admit the storyline was a bit lackluster here. The drama/conflict in the story was like actually a non-conflict. With that said- as always- the perfect amount of steam was delivered. I enjoyed it, but compared to other Tessa Bailey books it was just okay.

No, thank you. Overwrought plot, characters too intense on their defining character traits, cringe-y sex scenes, weird dialogue, and so much emphasis on virginity without any of the reality of it. And the audio narrator's voice had a fry that I didn't like. I find no redeeming factors. I don't think I am a Bailey reader.
