Stunning graphic novel! The art and representation was truly beautiful. I loved seeing powerful Arabs and Moddle Eastern culture so authentically portrayed. It was both healing and refreshing.

The only thing that let this graphic novel down was the writing. The lines read stilted and awkward most of the time. The story development in the last third as read as rushed and underdeveloped. If there had been more finesse on the writing, this would have easily been a 5 star read.

great! really lovely art & colors and a story that discussed imperialism in a way that felt like it would be accessible for a YA audience but was also interesting to me as an adult reader. could have read another 300 pages of this easily.

Good story. Bit too long for my liking

This is a great graphic novel that focuses on Aiza's dream to be a squire and her personal journey through training and developing relationships with the other candidates. Aiza, however, has a secret, one that represents a larger issue within her society. Things come together quickly and explosively when political machinations come to light, and characters are forced to make choices that affect not only their futures, but also have the potential to impact their country and society.

What a fabulous graphic novel. A thrilling tale of imperialism and friendship that quickly draws you in though engaging artwork and compelling storytelling. I loved it from start to finish and am eagerly awaiting their next book. I hope I don’t have to wait too long.

Beautifully done. Equal parts action and adventure, and at its core, a story about honor, doing the right thing, and what it can cost you.
