I really enjoyed this graphic novel. I loved the setting and the art style. I likedthe story and conclusion. I hope there’s gonna be more.

I would give it six, no, TEN stars if I could. Something as cool as “girls with swords” turns into a commentary about powers in control, the common people, others trying to maintain their heritage while being under another’s yoke… among many other themes. As a cis white guy, it’s something foreign to me, but the themes are interwoven within an amazing story enough where you can feel them without getting interrupted. The commentary at the end of the book from both the author and artist is definitely something to take your time to read and understand.

Fantastic job by Sara and Nadia. As a fan of both of you before reading this, I’ve a stronger appreciation for your craft.

“History is, in actuality, quite personal. All narratives should be interrogated, including this one. But don't let any one story tell you who you are.” - Nadia Shammas

I really wanted to like this book but I found the ideas basic, the world-building shallow, and the plot nonsensical. I say all that knowing I am very much not the target audience so I'm sure it resonates with other readers.

I didn’t feel as strongly about this as I wanted to, though the art was beautiful. I think it felt like while it was tackling some huge topics, it felt a little surface-level to me.
