It took me months to read the first 200 pages of this novel. While the relationship between the two girls was intriguing, I just didn't care enough about what was happening to them to feel compelled to pick the book back up once I'd set it down. The pace picked up in the last third and I became more invested in the story. Now that I'm done, I'm surprised to find that I'm sufficiently curious about Ferrante's portrayal of how these characters' lives will continue to shaped by their friendship that I likely will, eventually, read the next installment in the series.
