Actually a cute story with a fantastic illustration style that suits the heart-warming story. If you're a fan of the Guardians of the Galaxy film, then you'll probably enjoy this Groot-centric adventure

I began to love Groot since the first Guardians movie, so I picked this up once it arrived at my local library. Instead of it being serious, it was very cute, lighthearted story with Groot and Rocket. There's a lot of cute moments with Groot rescuing Rocket, them going to a trip to the US, them eating pizza. Its a great, lighthearted read that I needed.

I am a stupid motherfucker.
For some reason, I have not learned my lesson about flipping through a comic. Even one that I'm taking home for free from the library, and therefore do not need to make an informed decision about. I COULD just start in, and if it sucks, it's not like back when and I have to wait six months until I can save up enough to buy more trades at Mile High Comics.
And so, because I can't resist the ol' flipthrough, I completely spoiled the ending for myself on this one. Very dumb.
On the note of buying comics like an hour away, man am I jealous of these youths who can go to a legit bookstore and find comics. Also, the re-rise of comic book shops couldn't have come at a worse time for me. My peak fandom was right during the decline of the comic book shop. Now they're back. How did I manage that timing?
Also, with the legit bookstore, you can actually return a trade paperback, which is something I actually did once.
I was going somewhere on a plane. I can't remember where because it's been like 10 years, but I picked up Grant Morrison's The Invisibles vol. 1 for the trip.
Being a comic book dork, of course I started reading it the night before because fuck waiting.
I read the whole thing, and I hated it so much I returned it to the book store. Which seems like such a weird thing to do. Do people do that with books? Read the whole thing and then return them to the bookstore because they ended up disliking them? I guess it's a little like sending back a dinner after you ate the whole thing...but also not because, hell, I would think you'd know the meal was terrible pretty early on. With a book, it's different, right? If the ending is all fucked up, maybe it's like if you ate a really good meal and then got a note from the chef that was like "I prepared all of this without washing my hands, and I took a dump that, well, no need for the details, just know everything is ruined and I've kinda invalidated every time you've washed your hands in your entire life."
I feel like this is a thing that used to happen at movies too. Not taking dumps, the refund thing. If people hated them, they'd walk out and ask for a refund. Is that still a thing? I feel like maybe not. To be fair, in 1993 you couldn't really find out a lot of info about a movie. There was the two fucking columns in a newspaper where some asshole who had seen every movie ever said whether or not he liked it, and then that was it. Meanwhile, they had an entire section in the newspaper called Who's New that just listed everyone who was born the day before. I'm walking into Speed 2: Cruise Control with no warning. Who was asleep at the wheel back then? I can see some idiot named Jimmy was born yesterday, but no one tells me that although Speed was pretty successful with an unlikely premise, Speed 2 is for shit, and will actually make you miss Keanu Reeves in a role.

This is full of heart, as you might expect from Groot! Rocket and Groot's interactions were funny and sweet. I liked these versions of them, seeing how they met, and seeing how Groot's influence helped Rocket become more open over time.
The art is fun, colourful and just good to look at. I'm especially a fan of Groot and Rocket's designs. The story is short overall and so there is a bit of an 'abridged' feeling to it, but there were some heart-warming moments throughout, and the ending was very moving!
There were some cameos - as I'm coming from the Guardians of the Galaxy movies I didn't recognise any of them, but I didn't have any trouble following along.
For me, this was a good intro to comics. :)

A hilarious road-trip-turned-rescue-mission story featuring everyone's favorite sentient tree-alien. Marvel has become very self-aware, lately, and doesn't shy away from self-mockery. Also l, this story is surprisingly touching as it shows how Groot impacts the lives of every being he encounters.
The only thing holding this back from a 5-star rating was the artwork. It was a little too crude and cartoony for my taste and amplified the goofier tone a little more than necessary.
Still, this is a recommended read for any Guardians of the Galaxy fan.

I didn't think it was possible to love Groot more, but this book proved me wrong. Buy it and read it.

I really really enjoyed this comics series. The thing I think people need to learn about groot and rocket is that all their adventures are chase adventure-- and that isn't a bad thing.
If every comic journey was the same we'd get bored. The other theme is very much about family-- and finding family when you feel so alone, and you use that loneliness as a wall to protect yourself from the trauma of losing everyone you held dear.
This book was light hearted, but filled with so much emotions. We learn how rocket and groot met and I wish they would tell this story in a special presentation or a short on disney+. I'm not someone who believes there is an over saturation problem, I believe there is a people who outgrew the MCU and refuse to accept it problem, right now.
The art work was like eye candy, the story was engaging and made me tear up a little and also laugh -- at rocket of course.
Another interesting fact-- the writer of this comic is also the one who wrote Quantummania.

I have seen this book laying around in shops before, but I never picked it up. And what a mistake that was. I'm glad that I finally did buy this.
This is a collection of six comics telling the story of Groot and Rocket going on a vacation on earth, and they are taking the scenic route to get there.
the art is very nice, the story has a feel good edge and is very tongue in cheek.
I would recommend this for everybody who likes fun, lighthearted comics. Very good book.
