I couldn't stomach the graphic details of
the child rape scene in chapter 1.
As any morally good person would, I felt nauseous listening to the details being read to me. If this were a book form, i would skip the graphic details or close the book, but i can't when it's an audiobook. I have a pretty strong stomach but i couldn't continue.

Beautifully done. The author took a very interesting approach by splitting the book exactly down the middle and having the second part parallel the first in a very clever way. For this I also have to give props to the translator, who I think did a wonderful job translating the author's intentions!

It's a quick read with a powerful ending that leaves you staring at the wall to process. I think this would be a great book to study in class as it makes some very smart writing choices that help bolster the overall theme. You could definitely reread this multiple times and find something new to annotate.

It amazes me when authors can write so much in so few pages.  This story is told in two parts and tells the story of one incident from two unreliable narratives years apart.  It grabs at the concept that no story in conflict can be told 100% accurately.  In a war zone, records are deleted or skewed.  No matter how many times history repeats itself, we seem to never learn.
