3.5 ⭐️ - The premise of the book is interesting — Erin is about to start a new chapter of her adulthood, but an ex-lover makes her go a complete 180. Silas, someone who she thought she left in the past, escapes rehab and dies, making her crave him more. This eventually leads to her becoming addicted to this experimental drug Ghost, which helps you see the dead. Seeing her spiral and throw her life away is SO sad. I can’t fathom the loneliness she feels, causing her to just go towards the darkness. Some of her worst moments are so detailed that my jaw would drop, and I find myself screaming at Erin to get her shit together. You want to root for Erin so badly, but then you fear the inevitable. This is a tiresome journey as all recoveries from drug addiction can go. I enjoyed reading this! Not a fan of the side characters such as her family and friends, but it definitely feels realistic.
Oh this one was goooooood! A twist on your average haunting story and a unique take on ghosts that worked on me. I devoured this in a singular night

Requiem For A Dream Meets A Ghost Story.
When Erin finds her on and off again boyfriend, Silas, suddenly dead, her whole world gets turned upside down.
The strongest part of this book was the underlying narrative of drug use and abuse that people struggle with. The desire for the next hit when you know you shouldn’t. The fear to leave, to escape, to come clean will haunt you.
Ghost Eaters dives deep into the mind of addiction and shows you all the ugliness with a supernatural elements.
This book examines people riddled with grief, sadness and guilt they struggle to overcome and what happens when we succumb to it.
There are numerous points in this book where it’s hard to tell what is reality and what is a hallucinogenic drug trip on Ghost.
Ghost Eaters was a quick read coming in at only 300 pages and honestly I want to read it all in one sitting.
With that being said, there are parts that drone on and the ending wasn’t as fleshed out as I wanted it to be.
To be honest I am not sure what this book could have done to be a five star for me. I can feel it in bones that it didn’t hit what I need to make it a five star but an incredible book nonetheless.
Please give Ghost Eaters a chance because it might just suprise you in the most gortesque way.
