Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to read an ARC of Ghost Eater by Clay McLeod Chapman!

I loved this book! It sucked me in right from the first page. I started reading it because the electricity went out at my house and I honestly could not put it down. I will say this is a book about addiction, whether it be drugs or love so if that triggers you this might not be the right book for you. I will definitely be reading more books by Clay McLeod Chapman.

I thoroughly enjoyed the concept of the book. I loved all the graphic imagery and the incredible writing. I kept trying to guess what was really happening the whole time, but found the ending to be a little bit anticlimactic. I was waiting for a more sinister twist.

Pro: the depiction of addiction is well done

Cons: the characters were unbearable ;Manic Pixie Dream Girl, Cool Girl, Beta Male, Tragic Hero, and all of them terrible. The scenes of Erin and Silas meeting, and Erin and Tanner on their date were so painfully cringe-worthy. And the humor was terrible. This was a giant turd and I’m glad it’s over.

Edited to add: the author giving his own book 5 stars and reviewing it with only, “I mean…” should be enough to let you know what this book is.

A terrifying tale of what truly haunts us and how those ghosts infect and grow in our flesh, in our minds, and in our homes.

A stunningly original take on the ghost story that preys as much on our emotions as our psychological repulsion to vivid, visceral horrors of the flesh, and our salacious greed for more.

This book will eat you from the inside out, and you'll enjoy every bite.
