Omg. I already want to listen to the whole thing again. No one is perfect everyone has their problems. There’s a cult, mushrooms, mushroom people, creative nonfiction, art, poems. The slow dissent into madness.

An incredibly disturbing take on drug addiction and the way it alters your brain chemistry.
The ghosts that plague the book are the individuals deepest desire that they would give up everything for.

It’s a quick read so is lacking some depth that would make it a true psychological masterpiece but a worth read all the same

I really wanted to like this book. But it definitely wasn't for me. It started out really good and caught my attention, but at about the halfway point, I realized that it wasn't at all what I thought it was.
This book is much less of a ghost story as it is a story about addiction. I can understand why people would enjoy this story, but it seemed to go all over the place (which I suppose is kind of what can happen with drug addiction) and never got to some of what I perceived to be main plots.
Also, I love horror. But this type of horror made me physically nauseous.
Overall, I can understand the appeal, but it really wasn't for me.

Addiction! That's what the book is about. Uncomfortable at times but honestly so; I don't regret reading it but I don't enjoy reading about characters hitting rock bottom. Not the author's fault: seems like an honest rendering and it's well-crafted.
