3.5/5 Could have benefitted from more showing and less telling but I still enjoyed the read! And Anne and Wentworth trying to understand what was going on in each other's head was really funny. And their faults as people sadly relatable.

2022: I enjoyed this reread so much. Anne is still the Austen heroine I relate to the most. I love her character arc so so much☺️

This is a classic Jane Austen book with all the aspects we know and love: dynamic characters, town gossip, talk of class, rank, and monetary affairs, and an emphasis on beauty, health, and perception. The ending was great, as was the gossip. The letters that revealed important information about the characters were great, as was the story itself. It is a true classic through and through.
