This was such an enjoyable read!! The MC was likeable and smart, and the side characters were well written. This was charming and I’m excited to see where the story takes me next.

Too slow-paced and nothing was happening. Underwhelming big reveals. Hard to connect to characters or the story.

I don't even know how to describe what genre this is. If gaslamp fantasy with a sideline of cozy mystery, another sideline of fantasy romance, and another sideline of family saga sounds like it might be your thing then definitely pick this one up. In my head it feels kinda like if Neil Gaiman's Stardust had a love child with Sarah J Maas? Anyways, it was fun (though slow paced, be warned).

Also I just have to say - I think the covers on this series are perfection, and this was possibly the most beautifully typeset indie book I've read.

I'd just got through a few serious books before this one, and needed something super light, happily-ever-after and no twists. This fit the bill perfectly and helped to lighten up my mood. Good palate cleanser between heavy stuff.
