she is 18!!!!!! he’s 32!!!!!!!! just no the imbalance and just straight up wrongness i couldn’t get over it even their ‘banter’ (and i use that term very fucking lightly) didn’t make up for it
just all of it was predictable, salem is the epitome of a wet wipe teenager pining over this grown as man, and she has trauma, which is like talked about twice and it’s as if a twelve year old wrote it for her harry styles mc wattpad fic

I loved this book until it broke my heart! I still love it, but it seriously broke my heart and I needed a little time before I started the second book, even though this one ends on a cliffhanger. A doozy of a cliffhanger. I was not expecting the turn of events. Like I was blind sided! If you’ve read this then you know what I am babbling about. It is that kind if shook that keeps me thinking about a book long after I have read it.

Backing up, let’s talk about Salem and her traumatic life experiences. Please check your TWs before reading this. I feel for Salem in every way. But she is living her life now and moving on with her sister and mother. Then she becomes intrigued and is pulled towards her new neighbor. Hot single dad, Thayer. Thayer tries to keep his distance, but she wears on him. He can’t help but become intrigued by her as well. What starts out as an innocent friendship morphs into something more than the two of them fight so hard to keep locked at bay. Soon, lines are blurred and there is no going back.

This was depressing but well written except I did find it repetitive but it was still an alright reading experience

3.75-4 stars… so rounding up

I heard this book was going to destroy me, but other than that, I went into it blindly. It was pretty addictive… I flew through it, and I probably could’ve finished it within a few days if I didn’t purposely read it slow for a book club.

I’m torn with my rating because while I thought it was good, it wasn’t absolutely AMAZING or as heartbreaking as other people said it would be. That doesn’t mean I didn’t like it… the ending just felt so random! I did shed a few tears at the end, but I think I was more shocked and confused than anything else. I did like the characters — Lauren was a great sidekick, Thayer was yummy, and Caleb was an angel. Some of it felt really cliche and dramatic, but again, it was addicting for the most part. That ending left me wanting more, and I want to read the next book… but I keep hearing not-so-great things about it, so I’m not going to read it immediately or anything lol. But I’ll definitely look into it in the future!
