This book left me with so many mixed emotions. Not super spicy, it is definitely pretty tame. I also feel like the plot was tame as well. Don’t get me wrong, a romance novel definitely doesn’t need all of the smut, especially if the story is more intriguing. For me, the story was predictable (except for the last like ten chapters) and honestly the more interesting parts seemed to be glossed over. Also, I hate to say it but the MMC’s name made me cringe every time I read it. Thayer?! Not attractive for me.

There was also a lot of history with the FMC, Salem, that was, in my opinion, unnecessary. Definitely look up TWs for this one. I felt like there was a lot of traumatic stuff randomly dumped into this book, followed by really sudden smut.

Honestly most of the plot just seemed to be setting up the next book, which is fine, but it could’ve definitely been a standalone had it been longer. I wish I knew it left on a cliffhanger before I read it.

Overall, pretty tame smut scenes. It did make me tear up, but I got whiplash from the transition of one event to the next. I didn’t get very attached to the characters, but it wasn’t awful.
