I am confused. I do not understand what everyone loves about this book. I am gonna think about this before I say too much. I will return at a later date.

My heart doesn’t know if it’s broken or if it’s healed..
This story…how do I even put it into words without spoilers.
If you want a story about love with true devastation this is prob the book for you.
I have to be honest the older dude thing does nothing for me (kinda weirds me out..thanks ma 😉)…but this was not the point of this story and I made it through just fine. By fine I mean…happiness, enticipation, heart break, tears…
The important thing I survived and need more..thank god there’s two more books!

I’ve never read anything as beautiful, well-written, and engaging as this duet. I literally, cannot find a single fault.
Here we have Salem, an 18yr old, with the emotional and mental maturity of someone far older than her years. And Thayer, a 30yr old single dad who moves in next door.
This is marketed as an age-gap romance, but what is refreshing is that there is no power imbalance and no “daddy” kink.
Just two adults who actually listen to each other, respect each other, communicate and grow with each other and are each other’s better halves. Everything in this novel felt all too real. I laughed in places and I cried. I full-on sobbed in public to the point where I think people thought I should be committed.
It feels like an actual, true romance that doesn’t need high drama and childish behaviour to drive the plot forward or create challenges in the plot. The character growth is perfect, the pacing moves nicely, and the time between the first and second book is done well. The secondary characters are all great, there’s no filler content and the dialogue keeps the pace.
I have recommended this to everyone that will listen and shouted about it from the rooftops. It’s just a beautiful duet. I know nothing will beat this for the rest of the year, or ever really, for me. Bury me with these books.
Later in the year, The Endurance of Wildflowers will be released which is a novella that will round off the series and I need it more than I need air to breathe

I went into this book with the wrong expectations. I bought it after the cover and title caught my eye. The book was on a table in B&N that was labeled "SpicyTok". I usually do not pick books from this table, because I've found their descriptions to be dark, and I prefer cartoon cover rom-coms. I thought this one sounded like a good romance book, so I bought it and the sequel. This is not a romance novel. This book definitely has s3x scenes in it, but the love story and spice are not the point. There is so much unexpected tragedy in this book, and I cried really hard the last 40ish pages of it. I will definitely read the sequel, because the book is well written and the story sucks you in. But, this book is definitely a book I wish I were better prepared for.
