“Layla Hilding didn’t know everything. Life is unpredictable, and sometimes all you could do was hold on tight and go along for the ride. But what she didn’t know was that life was a constant changing of the seasons and it turned out that she could handle them just fine.”
If you’re a fan of Daisy Jones, this one if for you! I absolutely loved the music aspect of it. This is another slow burn, second chance romance with double POVs. I enjoyed it so much but just couldn’t give it 5 stars.
I needed more background surrounding the breakdown of Josh & Kimmy’s marriage. It definitely seemed like they didn’t try hard to save it & Josh basically wondered if they had let it go too easy and too fast. So why then when she says she wants to try is Josh fine to so quickly give it up? I’m not sure if I bought that story line. It seems like it may have been better for Kimmy to just say “I’ve delayed filing the divorce papers because I wanted to be sure and now I’m sure.” Or it may have been better for them to go on a couple of dates and mutually come to the conclusion it was really over. I just didn’t think this was wrapped up very well.
Overall, I definitely recommend this one, especially for fans of Taylor Jenkins Reid!

The book flip flops between past and present way too much. It is hard to retain the different relationships since nothing happens in the present, especially if you are listening/reading in multiple settings. The book's present-day seems to be early 2019 but, I have no idea when the past is supposed to be. My main issue is the lack of a plot or a clear one. I appreciate Layla's character. She loves her job even though it wasn't her dream career and learns how to set boundaries. All the other characters are less interesting, so I have no empathy for them.
Moderate: Chronic illness, Drug use, Emotional abuse, Gaslighting, Grief, Sexual violence, Suicidal thoughts, and Toxic relationship
Minor: Alcohol, Animal death, Death of parent, and Vomit
