“ In my recent review of Not Another Billionaire, I complained that the book needed “more heart”. Well, I found all it’s missing heart and then some. This book has heart in spades.
I’m about to feel like one of the Three Bears, though, and say that this one has too much heart and too little editing.
The biggest problem is that the book is 100 pages too long. This wouldn’t be an issue if the 100 pages were actual, you know, plot, but they are just heart eyes.”

Twisted Wrister is the seventh book in the Playmakers series, but it can be read as a standalone.
Blake and Michaela were neighbors with different outlooks on love. He was opposed to relationships and she was hoping to find “the one.” They were neighbors and there was instant attraction, but Blake’s roommates called “dibs” so he didn’t pursue her.
I enjoyed seeing these two slowly become friends and open up to each other. It was clear they had great chemistry, but Blake was a good friend and didn’t want to betray his roommate. It took a while for them to finally give in to their feelings, but it was worth it. Also, I liked how strong and smart Michaela was. She really knew Blake and understood him.
Audio:
Narrators: Samantha Brentmoor and Scott Rose
Style: Dual
I’m a big fan of Samantha Brentmoor because she always performs well, and this was no exception. She brought all of Michaela’s feelings and emotions to life. Scott Rose did a good job as well, but I wish there was a little more emotion for Blake. I did get a little bored at times, but overall I enjoyed this.

I received a free ARC from Hidden Gems for the promise of an honest review.
It was good. Blake and Michaela's story is okay. Blake plays center for the Denver Blizzards who's was making a name for himself. He meets his new next door neighbor, Michaela, when he was saying goodbye to a one-night stand. Blake and Michaela's first interaction didn't end well. They kept running into each other and formed a friendship. This friendship grew but not without heartache.
The book is written well. You will like Blake and Michaela.

I wanted to like it but I couldn't. The backstory with the law firm felt thrown in on a whim and made no sense. It felt forced. I loved Blake but after trying hard to just get through,I just read the last chapter to end it. I would call it a DNF for me.

My heart bled for Blake and I loved how much of a good friend he was to Owen and his chemistry with Micky was amazing. I hated Ferguson to be honest, I thought he was a narcissistic terrible friend and he soured the mood of the book for me to be fully honest.
I couldn’t wait for Blake and Michaela to see what was right in front of them.
It was refreshing that Blake was the one showing insecurities when it came it his feelings and actions, then learning to find his confidence. It was also nice to have him be a little inexperienced compared to Michaela as well.
For my first book by this author, I really enjoyed it and look forward to finding more books through them.
Hockey, lawyer, neighbors, nerdy jock, HEA, ARC for honest review

This is another sweet, and heartfelt romance in the Playmakers series. Blake Barrett is a star professional hockey player who isn't looking for love. That is until he meets his gorgeous neighbor, Michaela Wagner, in the hall late one evening. He didn't leave the best impression and would love a second chance. Until he finds out his roommate wants her as well, making her off limits. Michaela is a smart, hard working lawyer who can make up her own mind, and the sweet man who can list off fun facts about anything at a moments notice is who she wants. Blake and Michaela have an easy friendship and the more they see each other, the harder it is to deny their attraction. Blake and Michaela are so perfect together, and their chemistry is off the charts! But when complications arise, threatening both their jobs and their friendships, will they be strong enough to fight for each other? This story made me feel so many emotions. Michaela was so smart, strong and caring, and Blake was sweet, romantic, and protective of her. Their story was sweet, fun, heart-pounding and passionate, and I couldn't help but cheer for their HEA!
Narrators Scott Rose, and Samantha Brentmoor were wonderful bringing these characters to life. They magnified the apprehension, heartache, joy, and passion of this story and I was totally lost in their performance.

Twisted Wrister
The Playmakers 7
By GK Brady
Narrated by Scott Rose, Samantha Brentmoor
If you love hockey romance, GK Brady is an author you do not want to miss. This is the 7th book in her Playmaker series and each one is fabulous! Featuring Blake and Michaela, the story is fun, frustrating, and filled with passion. These two are neighbors. Michaela is looking to make a name for herself at her law firm, and Blake shares his place with teammate and best friend Owen. When Blake and Michaela meet, there is instant chemistry, but Owen had mentioned her first and out of loyalty, Blake keeps her at arms length. Until he can no longer. But now what will happen? How will Owen take the newly formed couple? Will it ruin a lifelong friendship for a love that may not last? Not only is there the romance, but family and business also play a part in this story. Proving herself is not easy and there may be more at play than just performance. And Blake, he has some family issues he needs to face and deal with. How does it all end? Well, I am not going to tell you. This one had me frustrated at times, shocked at others and my heart was hurting and filled with love. All the feels come through and made this a fantastic listen
Scott Rose is the perfect Blake. He has a voice that can be so emotionally charged, and Blake had some true feelings that were tough. And then Rose can be cold as ice, proven at times as well. Samantha Brentmoor is Michaela, and she is so good at finding the niche with her characters. Between work and love, each feeling is realistic and easily touched my heart as Michaela dealt with it all. Together these two gave an amazing performance, keeping me engaged and my heart full.

A fantastic read that has all the feels you could want!
Blake is an up and coming NHL star who had a childhood impacted by parents who showed him the worst of married life. His mother was an angry alcoholic and his friend Owen Ferguson (Fergs) was there to help him during some of the worst of it. Blake is loyal to his friend so when his best friend/roommate & teammate claims to be interested in their neighbor down the hall, Blake is determined not to pursue her himself.
Michaela is a real estate attorney who is temporarily living down the hall. She needs a plus one for a work event at the senior partner’s home. She has become casual friends with Blake, her gorgeous hockey playing neighbor who offers up his roommate as her plus one. Michaela would prefer to have Blake go with her because they have such an easy time talking for hours and get along so well.
Blake and Michaela have different outlooks on relationships and love, but end up in a very steamy romantic relationship. These two characters continue to develop and start to have much deeper feelings. As they grow in their relationship both of their insecurities and the world around them affect the choices they make.
This is a realistic and well written story. Neither of these characters are perfect and neither of them are the villain, but they have to work to find a path to their HEA. The characters and their story are engaging, entertaining and thought provoking.
I really enjoyed this story and despite the longer length of the book, it was so worth the time invested in reading it. I’ve read only a couple of books in this series and this easily reads as a standalone. Characters from the previous books appear and interact with Blake and Michaela, but the author mentions enough about them to avoid confusion or a lapse in this story.
I received an ARC from Hidden Gems and the author, and I am voluntarily leaving a review.

This was a fun, emotional story. I love the chemistry & banter between Blake & Michaela
There were a lot of emotions, some upheaval, some frayed & fractured friendships, some hard & difficult truths, dysfunctional relationships. There were also amazing friendships, forgiveness, hope and love.
Both Blake & Michaela had things they had to deal with and overcome. The story was full of spice, sassiness and snark, falling hard & fast.
I absolutely loved the narration by Samantha Brentmoor, she always does an amazing job bringing her characters to life.
Scott Rose did a great job, bringing out all the layers of Blake, and his friends.
