I usually don't mind when books end on a cliffie and then I have to wait for more, as long as the wait isn't heinous. The wait for this one wasn't bad, but even still I am SO FUCKING GLAD I waited to read part 1 until I had part 2 on my ereader. Otherwise, there might have been tears. Big, ugly, crocodial tears. Shite.

Onto part 2!

Ugh, I am not sure what to say. I enjoy Cara Dee's books so much. The Game series is one of my favorites. I usually don't read books that end in cliffhangers unless the rest of the series is out. I am very impatient. However, I am not disappointed I read this. My heart broke for Alfie. Losing the only man he truly loved all because he was trying to be the person that he thought West wanted him to be. I absolutely cannot wait for part 2! Alfie deserves his redemption arc, he deserves to be happy. ♥

I’m speechless and heartbroken over here. Alfie and West just broke me…shattered me like they’ve shattered each other. These two…I don’t even know where to start. West fell head over heels in love with Alfie and wanted him to be his forever, they have two beautiful children, Trip and Ellie, but some things went down in their marriage and West demanded a divorce. The divorce killed Alfie. Now, more than two years later, they are co-parenting and trying to survive. Alfie is trying to find himself again and move on since West has. So, he turns to the Sons of Munster, the Irish mob, to take a bigger role in the syndicate. This story is a slow burn, second chance…and it is incredibly hard to read these two guys struggles while they clearly are so in love with each other. Part 1 isn’t an HFN or HEA, I can see that part two will eventually, hopefully get us there but while these two want and crave each other and love each other, they aren’t quite there yet. I don’t want to say more cause I don’t want to give spoilers. But I felt the love, I felt the heartbreak and the soul deep connection. And I can’t wait for the next book, I can’t wait for these two to figure it out. I love everything Ive read by Cara Dee and this book is no exception. I devoured it quickly and it left me crying and wanting more.

I enjoyed the book! The plot is packed with hurt, angst, drama, and amazing family-found vibes that warmed my heart.

Alfie and West are clearly in love with each other despite the pain caused by one another.
It’s absolutely intriguing to see how they work through it.

Alfie is on a personal quest to find a place where he can truly be himself, while West is on a journey to discover who his ex-husband is as a person, not just the ghost of their past relationship.

Their journey is truly captivating, and intertwined, making for a compelling read.
