The stories in Her First Palestinian are painful, hopeful, funny, and beautiful. They examine the immigrant experience, the profound sense of alienation the Palestinian main characters often feel, and the tragedy in being cast off your lands. Some of these rip your heart out, while others are less fraught. Teebi can break your heart with the small life tragedies and the big ones. A really stunning collection of stories.

I didn't get the point of some stories. But the last story hit hard.

An absolute gut punch of a short story collection. Highly recommend this to those who are new to reading Palestinian literature/about the Palestinian experience.

I loved this really intimate, succinct collection- it really challenged me to think about the complexities/complications  of  morality within the contexts of trauma, generational trauma, and genocide. My favourite stories were the one with the lawyer, the one with the roommates, and the one with the father and the breath company.

Wow, es increíble que haya personas que andan con estas historias en su cabeza. Que puedan expresarse de esta manera. Increíble 10/10 esa última historia me seguirá por mucho tiempo. Palestina libre!!

This collection of stories is interesting for its variety both in narrative and subject position. There are stories that are universal, stories that speak to a general immigrant experience in Canada, and moments that highlight the plight of Palestinians both in Palestine and in the Diaspora. The last story, “Enjoy Your Life, Capo” is particularly heart-wrenching.
