Oh my GOD!! This book couldn’t be stopped from the first page. I was a fan of the podcast Rabbits, so when I saw this book, I thought ‘It can’t be’ and IT WAS. So engrossing, so riveting. You literally have no idea what’s going to happen. The technical stuff gets pretty in the weeds at times but man is it worth it.

This book was engaging and fast paced. The mystery surrounding the mysterious underground game and the discrepancies of the world was captivating until... There was far too much going on, the twists and turns began to make less and less sense, and the ending left you feeling incredibly confused. You had no idea what was real and what wasn't, if the whole conflict of the story was resolved, or anything. It didn't leave you confused in a good way. It's like the author decided to stop writing half way through, leaving a gazillion loose ends he didn't feel like addressing. Also, didn't feel like I knew the characters, was only there for the plot, which was good until it wasn't.

Having had listen to the podcast its based on as well as Miles' other shows, this went about the way I expected it would. The concept and themes/big picture of the book are really interesting but I found that the execution fell a bit short. I found the characters to be a bit underdeveloped and I found it was bogged down by far too many pop culture references. Also everyone was beyond insufferable and were all just slightly different virations on the same character.
