The Blizzard - The Football Quarterly: Issue Nine by Jonathan Wilson, Tim Vickery, David Conn

Another solid outing of the Blizzard. Decent football writing as always. Perhaps this issue was a little weaker than previous ones. I have to say the fiction of pundits trapped in the Amazon was one of the worst things I have read in a while - maybe I'm thick or not 'inside' enough but I just didn't enjoy this. The article about having a kick about in Iran annoyed me a little also, even if the intention wasn't I thought there was an edge of US imperialism coming through in the writing. The article reminded me of the film 'Offside' (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Offside_(2006_Iranian_film)).
Not too much stood out although the article on Manchester City and how it obtained the stadium was good. I remain to be convinced of the benevolence of football clubs in 'regeneration' of areas.
Despite there being few standouts I read every article and enjoyed them all and found them interesting with the exception of the fiction.
