Saying I enjoyed this book is far from the truth; it was difficult to read, and one of the few books where I felt no guilt in skipping sections. And certainly there was a great deal of bias in its writing. Pron, staff writer for the Toronto Star, is a human being and couldn't have possibly avoided being biased. We all are. It's up to us how we read this book and take the information contained within.

This book is right in having a warning in the beginning. Most of the reporting on it should have had a warning. (That's one thing I'm glad a lot of news stories have now, especially if they're of this nature.) But I elected to read it, and as such, I can't fault it for its content. I knew what I was getting into, just not to what extent.

It was written well, and difficult to put down, if only because I was horrified the entire time (as should anyone who reads about this case, full stop).

My first and last true crime novel. I’ve always avoided it because I knew true crime was a genre I didn’t really want to visit, I now know I was right in my avoidance of it.

Terrifying. Disturbing. Gut Wrenching. It’s unimaginable that what’s contained in this book could even be true. There are no words to describe the utter depth of depravity these two inhuman humans stooped to for their own demented gratification!

Not a proponent of the death penalty but in some cases exceptions should be made. The entire criminal case was an utter miscarriage of justice! That she is now out of prison, remarried and now has children is unfathomable!

A rather bizarre book in that he seems to accept the idea that Karla was only a participant because she was an abused wife- while it was certainly the defense that she used, I don't remember many people believing it even while the trials were going on.

It goes into overwhelming detail about the crimes itself- I'm pretty used to true crime books, but this was a hard go. I don't actually think that level of detail was necessary, and it must have caused overwhelming pain to the families.
