Oh god where do I start with this book? Twilight has that weird place in pop culture where most of us can acknowledge that it's not a great piece of media and doesn't promote the healthiest of relationship behavior, but you'd be damned to say it didn't leave a mark on late 00's pop culture.
While Bella is nondescript at best, Edward is a piece of work and it's sad to say that pieces I thought were cute as a preteen, definitely did not age well.
Are we just supposed to overlook that the events of the book from start to finish take place in less than a month but the pair are already saying "I love you"?
Furthermore I'd like to hop on the topic of Meyer's portrayal of Natives as just superstitious idiots as problematic, but I'll save that for New Moon which I'm sure to tear to shreds.
When I was a kid, I don't know if it's because I listened to this book as an audio this time around or what, but I remember the events being much faster. I remember Bella and the PNW coven running into James much earlier, not 70% through the book.
Also can we just note that there were 4 times in this book alone that Bella could've been transformed and she just wasn't for no good reason. Like come on, we could've had this done in one book like Meyer had planned and not been subjected to the monstrosity that was Rotesserie Chicken in the final book and just had this book made into a quirky blue toned movie and have that be the end of it's pop culture spotlight.
Only positives I have for this are the worldbuilding nuggets Meyer left in the early stages like Jacob slowly turning into a werewolf as more vampires come into the area and the Volturi. But like I said...from here on out the books seem to draw out the inevitable end.

Maybe it’s my nostalgia goggles, but I loved revisiting “Twilight.” I hadn’t read it since high school, and loved it just as much now as I did then.
It’s not the next great American novel, but “Twilight” is a fun urban fantasy story about vampires. The characters are dramatic and fun, sometimes bordering on cartoonish, but that’s what makes it such a fun book.
