The Lost Metal provided a far more epic and fitting ending than I ever could've imagined for Mistborn Era 2. It was emotional, triumphant, and ultimately beautiful. Just like the ending to Era 1.
To me, I can't exactly pinpoint it, but it felt like there was an almost exponential leap in overall quality with this Era 2 novel compared to the previous entries. The character arcs were amazing, and the mystery element was even better than Shadows of Self. This books was such a wildly fun ride. And it made me appreciate Bands of Mourning much more.
And I can't forget to mention the crazy and intriguing Cosmere connections. They're awesome.
This was one of the better reading experiences I've had. What a book.
"With that, Wayne stretched into another place, into another time. He stretched into the wind. And into the stars. And all endless things."
Yeah, I ugly cried.
Edit 7/4/23: bumping down to 4.5 stars

This is one of my favorite books that I’ve ever read, period. A spectacular end to Era 2, and a brilliant gateway drug to reading the rest of the Cosmere. I haven’t enjoyed a book this much since “The Hero of Ages” (which I suppose is fitting).
Graphic: Gun violence and Body horror
Minor: Kidnapping and Gaslighting

The reveals were good, I cried, I cheered for Steris, I had to do a lot of lore reading and thinking right when I finished. There are things I wish had been more addressed, but overall I’m hype for Era 3! (Also unpopular opinion maybe but I will miss Wax dearly)
Moderate: Alcohol, Gun violence, and Confinement
