Semi predictable but the inclusion of Bram Stoker was brilliant!

Moore did a wonderful job of balancing past and present between Holmes' romantic tale and Harold's mystery. As many Sherlockians still wonder concerning the mystery of Holmes' missing diary, this version of plausible events was entertaining. However, I consider the writing at times bland, though I account that to missing Doyle's distinct voice in concern to Holmes.

The two stories presented in the novel, one in 1900 with Conan Doyle and Bram Stoker, and the other in 2010, are loosely based on actual events in both centuries. I did not know this until I read the author's note in the end, but it has made me want to delve more into the Sherlockians and the mystery of the missing papers. The mysteries here were captivating, making sure that after a certain point I could not put the book down. A great read for anyone who loves mysteries and Sherlock Holmes!
