Thanks to Hachette Audio and NetGalley for the advance listener copy!

I really liked this book! The narrator was great and did a good job with both the male and female voices, which made it easy to listen to.

The story was fun and well written. I enjoyed the connection between Holly and Jonathan. They clearly liked each other but were trying not to act on it, which kept the tension going in a good way.

Holly was a little frustrating at times because she couldn’t make up her mind, and Jonathan was a bit closed off at times.  Both Holly and Jonathan had personal issues they needed to deal with, and I liked how they worked through them by the end.

The book is told only from Holly’s point of view. I think it would have been even better if we got to hear Jonathan’s thoughts too. Still, it was a sweet and enjoyable romance. I’d read more from this author!

This one started off strong, but somewhere around the halfway point, it began to lose momentum for me. It’s a contemporary romance featuring a grumpy-sunshine dynamic, told from a single POV, with an FMC in her 30s...elements I usually enjoy.

Around the halfway mark, the pacing started to slow, and I found myself losing steam. Holly had potential as a main character, but her level of immaturity didn’t quite make sense for where she was in life, and it ended up driving an unnecessary third-act breakup that felt more frustrating than emotional.

I also struggled to fully invest in her career journey. It didn’t seem like she was all that passionate about the job she was pursuing. It felt more like she was running from her old one, which made it hard for me to root for her success. I didn't really care if she won the competition or not because she didn't seem like she was that into the message of the company. She just wanted to go to Scotland.

That said, the audiobook performance was a highlight. The narrator gave a great performance overall, and I especially loved the voice she used for Jonathan- gruff, distinct, and totally on-brand for the grumpy love interest. 3/5 stars

A mixed read for me, but there were definitely some bright spots.

Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for the ALC & ARC in exchange for an honest review!

I was provided this as an audiobook from Hachette Audio via NetGalley. This was such a sweet sweet story. Holly is an intern starting over after her law career goes bust. A competition, strict deadlines, and an ultra grumpy photographer make for an amazing story. There’s a whole cast of characters that make this a well rounded book. There is some spice, well written and appropriately placed. Five stars and would read more from this author

Workplace romance about two individuals who have never gotten along.   When one of them has to finish a project for an internship the pair are forced together to achieve the same goal.   The project includes hot men and puppies for a calendar fundraiser and I was here for it!  But overall I just found the characters to be flat and this novel didn't capture my attention.  I enjoyed it but I didn't love it.

I enjoyed this story about Holly and Jonathan. It made me giggle, laugh, kick my feet, and swoon over the dogs and story. I liked the fact that the main characters are a little older but did think that Holly was a little immature at times.

The premise of a former attorney doing an unpaid internship at 34 was a little strange. Being that the story is set in the PNW makes sense for the premise of GCL and their conservation efforts.

Anna Collins is a new to me author. Lauren Ezzo was a new to me narrator as well. Lauren did a fabulous job as the solo narrator navigating the different voices, even the male characters.

Thank you to NetGalley and publisher for the ALC.

Holly is all in for this work competiton. After a bad breakup she needs to get out of town and a job in Scotland sounds perfect.  Only she gets stuck with the office grump to help on her project.  However, he is a world class photographer and her photos are great! They work close together and fall in love! But will they have enough people to complete her calender?

I read and listened to this one and found the narrator to be just okay. This book is open door. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌶🌶🌶🌶
