4.75/5 - I really loved this book! It was a little thrilling, a little treasure hunting, and some magical realism. And about a very specific area that you never think about. It was easy to get through. The only thing is I wish the villain’s storyline made more sense because it felt fairly forced.

it would be one star but the cover alone deserves a whole star. this was so disappointing and i would argue a rip off of paper towns but worse. and paper towns is not even that good.

It's enjoyable! I see what people mean about the plot holes and the execution of the story is reflective of a less experienced author, but I loved the magical mystery that the author bright to life. The complicated but familial love that the characters have and the way that the details of the relationships unfurl is captivating. This is a fun book and you should give it a try.
