It had a bit more by way of deeply disturbing and violent content than I expected (or perhaps was prepared to encounter), but this was a fascinating read.

I've never read a fictional book about Yoriba gods yet and I really enjoyed it. Tony sucks.

one of my favourite Toronto books!
love the straddling of genres in this book. One of the first books of this author that I read and still one of my favourites.

Inspiring world and culture, all wrapped up in unique, bold characters who make me want to be brave enough to go on an adventure like theirs.

Talk about family drama

I really enjoyed this, I thought it was super immersive and incredibly well written.

A survivorship novel focused on, for once, not white folks in neighborhoods surrounded by barbed wire, but the inner city and the people of color making real lives there despite the surrounding dystopia. Strong female characters lead the way.
