This book is a ridiculous romp through Africa, India, Europe and the made up island of Tagoume (sp)
I don't know how much of it even makes sense, but it's fun.
I listened on audio book and it is 34 hours long. If you liked the previous books, this is more of the same, but better. if you hated the previous books, find something else to read.

The volume where, for me, the Baroque Cycle's old-fashioned stylistic conceits become unbearable. The inclusion of an absolutely risible sex scene doesn't help. Full review: https://fakegeekboy.wordpress.com/2008/12/11/the-reading-canary-why-i-dont-trust-neal-stephenson/

After [book: Quicksilver], I was unsure that it was worth my time to finish this series. Fortunately, the pace picked up quite a bit. The Confusion is still no [book: Diamond Age], but it does wrap up with a nice cliffhanger to draw you into [book: The System of the World]

Fascinating historical perspective, seems to be very well researched as usual. Long and drags in parts, could’ve used a more aggressive editor.

Loved it, my only problem? I know nothing of maritime activities, and there is A LOT of activity on the high seas in this one. Often lost me, but then again, it's STEPHENSON!
Still loved it.
Still loved it.

Picked this up and down intermittently. Admittedly, it was a bit of a slog, but definitely worth the read. Somehow, this book series teaches me more about history than some non-fiction books. Stephenson is absolutely a master of his craft.

This was okay, only okay, and as such must rank as a disappointment. The segments which followed the adventures of Jack were just dull, to such an extent that by the time I got halfway through the book I was just skipping over them entirely.
