Very cool, Gotham over 100 years ago with Jack the Ripper. No toys or gadgets, just a detective story.

Combining Batman and steampunk (kind of), is a great idea, even with the average art and the fairly predictable plot, I still enjoyed it a lot.

It's mostly just readable and kinda sorta captivating. I like the art a lot, but the script was just okay, and actually quite bad in places. It's worth reading once, I suppose.

A very interesting interpretation of the story. Set in the 1900's- the first story of two follows Wayne, newly returned to Gotham and an attempt to find Jack the Ripper and his parents' murderer. The second story is more steampunk than the first with The Master. By far my favorite random scene is where a Robot called Antonio "dies" and all I could think of was Wilson in Castaway. Anyway it's a quick read and very good. I would have liked a few more tales to see a Victorian take on some of the other villains.

[3.5 stars] Enjoyed these two re-imagined stories of Batman in Victorian times.

This is a very creative (tiny) graphic novel, but I loved the idea more than the writing and plot.

A really fun duology of Batman stories set in the Victorian era. Leans heavier on Bruce's ability to be a detective, especially in the first story. And while there were one or two nods to the greater Batman mythos it wasn't crammed full of Easter eggs, which allowed the writing to impress.

It also grapples with Bruce potentially giving up the cowl, focusing on that central question of Batman's goal, his aim as a vigilante. The second story ends with a happy Bruce with a wife who knows his secret is really at odds with most Batman stories we've had of late and, honestly, good for Bruce.

Artwork was also fantastic, that gets a 5/5
