Classic Andrew Murray! Profound theology presented in 31 short chapters. The language feels rather dated now, but his insights are spot-on, mostly based on John 15, considering the metaphor of abiding in the vine. For me, chapters 12-15 were the highlight: it is God’s work, not ours, to keep us abiding Christ, moment by moment and day by day.

There is a LOT packed into each short (a few pages) devotional. He does not waste words. Reading/listening to one each day is a great technique, but I had to reread most of them at least once because there's so much to sift through.

Andrew Murray’s Abiding in Christ is a devotional work which focuses on Jesus as the vine and His followers being the branches as described in John 15. The preface describes that helping readers abide in Christ is the purpose of the book, which is broken up into 31 chapters that discuss this theme through various passages. Many of these are from John 15 and the vast majority are from the New Testament.

I found Abiding in Christ to be well written, theologically sound, and encouraging. This work is a Christian classic for good reason. Abiding in Christ is a solid pick for someone seeking devotional literature for their quiet times.

Practical reminders of what it means to be in the presence of God. It's nothing like you see on television and mega-churches.
